It has been nearly 2 weeks since both Christopher and Samantha got the intranasal version of the seasonal flu vaccine. They both had a low grade (99) fever for a few days followed by a few sniffles here and there, but it didn't slow them down a bit. Both kids should have immunity at this point.
Now there is the swine flu vaccine, and I am still contemplating it. I wonder if that was actually the cough/fever they had about a month ago and they are already past it - the pediatrician has said that they have seen tons of swine flu this month - and every child with the flu has tested positive for the swine flu... So I know it is going around locally. I have not heard anything about our school yet - a few kids have been out sick, but I have not heard any mention of the flu for sure.
One of the horse rescue members that I waved to at the Expo this weekend has just tested positive for the swine flu - here's hoping that my time spent in the farrowing barn at Va Tech somehow made me immune to it. :) (Farrowing = pigs giving birth). I crinkle up my nose just at the thought of it! :)

New look/feel for Adventures on the Beverly Ranch
Hey everyone, Liz and I updated the look and feel of the Adventures on the Beverly Ranch.
Hope you like the new look, and please do comment.
We're going to try to keep this Blog going and up to date. What an awesome way to record our life and our Children's life as we journey mortality together.

Quotes of the Day - Sept. 22
"Momma, are we still on earth?" - Sammie
"Texas sure is small!" - Sammie who then went on to say, "New Hampshire is bigger than Texas!" I attempted to correct her, but I'm not sure she believed me. :)
"God had a plan for me when he made me... have to PEE!" - Christopher - after we stopped on the way home from school at a gas station - he was excited that we got some ice cream sandwiches and was sure it was divine intervention! I was expecting something more profound, but this was the best answer ever!
"Mommy, you smell like strawberries." - Christopher, when I laid down in bed with him to help him fall asleep. The strange news is that I ate an avocado/swiss burger with jalapenos for dinner. :)

New Hampshire Trip - July 2009
At the Flume Gorge:

In the Wolf Cave!

Christopher & Grandpa Mike

Papa & Sammie in the Boulder Garden
MT WASHINGTON

Sammie & Christopher say "please don't take us on a crazy rocky trail!" :)

Momma thinks, "Hey, this will be no problem"

Papa says, "Liz, are you sure about this?"
Little did we know...

There were a few rocks...

Okay, a lot of rocks!

The views were amazing!

The mountains were huge!

I don't think this one needs any explanation. :)

Sammie says, "Only ONE more step!"

One final smile - before we head back UP the mountain! :)
All in all, it was an amazing experience. A few more rocks than expected, a little longer than we planned, but it was just incredible. A wonderful adventure!
